FR5365 FR5368 Halogen-Free Flame Retardant PC ABS - Electronic Enclosures
The shift toward halogen-free flame retardant systems in electronics and automotive applications is no longer a trend—it is a regulatory and market reality. Over the past decade, we have seen OEMs across Asia, Europe, and North America progressively phase out halogenated flame retardants in favor of phosphorus- and nitrogen-based systems that offer lower smoke emission and reduced toxicity during combustion. Yet many engineering teams face a persistent challenge: finding a halogen-free PC/ABS alloy that delivers consistent V-0 performance, good flow for thin-wall molding, and heat resistance adequate for real-world operating conditions—all at a cost structure that makes commercial sense. FR5365 and FR5368 are two halogen-free flame retardant PC/ABS alloys developed by our own compounding facility, Primetech Plastics, to address exactly this gap.

Key Properties
Halogen-Free Flame Retardancy – UL94 V-0 at 1.6mm
Both grades achieve UL94 V-0 classification at 1.6mm thickness. The flame retardant system is chlorine- and bromine-free, with low smoke emission and no corrosive off-gassing during combustion. This makes them suitable for applications subject to RoHS, REACH, and other global environmental regulations.
FR5365 – Balanced Flow and Impact
With an MFI of 18 g/10min (260°C/2.16kg) and notched impact strength of 50 kJ/m², FR5365 strikes a practical balance between processability and toughness. One customer manufacturing large-format display bezels reported that switching to FR5365 improved fill in thin-wall sections and reduced scrap rates. The wider processing window also shortened their mold setup time.
FR5368 – Higher Heat and Chemical Resistance
FR5368 offers a heat deflection temperature of 88°C at 1.8MPa—5°C higher than FR5365—along with improved chemical resistance. For components that come into contact with cleaning agents, lubricants, or operate in elevated-temperature environments, FR5368 provides an extra margin of stability. Its MFI of 35 g/10min (260°C/5kg) ensures good flow for complex or long-flow-length parts.
Mechanical Balance
Tensile strength ranges from 60 to 62 MPa, flexural modulus from 2500 to 2600 MPa, and notched impact from 45 to 50 kJ/m². These are not extreme numbers—they are practical, reliable engineering properties that work for structural electronic housings, automotive interior components, and appliance parts.

Display Bezel and Panel Frames
A home appliance manufacturer producing large-format display panels experienced short-shot issues in thin-wall sections with their previous flame retardant PC/ABS. Our technical team recommended FR5365. After trial molding, fill completeness improved, and the production yield stabilized. Electrical and Electronic Components
Power adapter housings, relay bases, and circuit breaker enclosures all demand flame retardancy and dimensional stability. FR5365 handles most general-purpose E&E applications, while FR5368 is better suited for parts positioned near heat-generating components such as transformers or power semiconductors.

Automotive Interior Parts
Instrument panel trim, center console brackets, and HVAC outlet components require both flame retardancy and heat resistance. FR5368's 88°C HDT makes it a viable option for interior locations with moderate thermal exposure, such as near defroster vents or the upper dashboard area.
